A 65-year-old Essequibo businesswoman was found dead on
Sunday night on her bed with a towel around her neck after
she went to attend to a customer at her Adventure grocery
store.
Dead is Bannomati Singh called
`Doreen'. According to a police press release yesterday,
Singh was in the company of her husband, Kishore Singh, 70,
at their Guest House when she left to attend to a customer
at their grocery store nearby.
When her husband subsequently went across to shut the
grocery store he discovered the place ransacked and his
wife's body lying on a bed in the living room area with the
towel around her neck. She was pronounced dead on arrival at
the Suddie Hospital.
Police said in the release it was still unclear what
articles could have been stolen.
A woman identifying herself as Singh's sister-in-law told
this newspaperby phone last night that the family has still
not gotten around to ascertaining if anything was stolen.
She said up to last night she had not heard if the police
had managed to arrest anyone in connection with the death.
